Parents Upset Over Classwork on Gay Marriage

Posted at Faith and Freedom Network.
Parents were very upset and gave educators in their public elementary school an earful regarding a fifth grade assignment to read a newspaper column supporting gay marriage.

The article, “Gay marriage ban no benefit to society” had been written by Richard Cohen back on July 17, 2006 and had appeared as a nationally syndicated column. However, the Columbia Tribune reported this past Friday that a teacher had assigned that nearly year-old article to a class of fifth graders to read. (Read story).

When the teacher was called out by parents, the administration said, “The purpose was to become familiar with editorial writing and respond in an editorial back.”

Don't play dumb. This sounds like the same lame excuse as someome who says that they only read Playboy for the articles.
