Welcome

This blog is being started as a source for news regarding the spiritual health of our children. All who have children have been given a gift from the Lord.
Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one's youth.
How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
~Psalms 127:3-5a

We are all responsible for their well being as they are raised to be adults in this world, both physically and spiritually. We are responsible for training up our children in the way they should go. Ultimately, fathers are responsible for their families, and both fathers and mothers are responsible for their children.

As Christians, we are to recognize that there is a spiritual battle going on for the spiritual well being of our children. There is also a tendency to allow the schools that we send our children to handle the teaching of secular education and allowing the churches and Sunday schools to handle the teaching of spiritual education. In general, there is much more spiritual education going on at school than any Christian should allow to go unchecked, and there is not nearly enough of the right kind of spiritual education going on in churches.

Thankfully, for those of us who live in the free world, we are given the priviledge of making our own choices as to how our children are to be taught in both secular and spiritual matters. Unfortunately we too quickly give up these priviledges for the sake of convenience. This is a grave error that will ultimately have severe consequences not only on our children and eventually our society, but also at the time that we are held to account for the work that we have done here on earth when we go to meet our Lord.

The negative influences of this world on our children are probably far greater than most Christian parents might imagine. There are also people who are working diligently to increase those negative influences and restrict the parent's ability to counter them. I propose that if you are sending your children to a public school, and even most private schools, and not talking to them every day about what is going on, not staying involved in the day-to-day activities, and expecting the church to provide adequate spiritual education to counter the daily bombardment from teachers and peers, that you are failing your children, your country, and your God. Not to diminish the work and concern that the church has for your children, but it is not nearly enough.

Arrows in the hand of warriors are only valuable when they are well cared for, straight, and sharp. If you trust the care of your arrows to others, you cannot be assured of their effectiveness in battle. The battle is going on to be sure. Based on the trend of this country and the world, the battle is being lost to be sure. If the Christian parents of this world don't soon reclaim the responsibility for training up their children and take this responsibility much more seriously, then God help us all.
